28 Day Prescribing Costs
This is a series of prescribable products, sorted into their relevant BNF groups in order to give the end user the ability to look at and compare the costs of prescribing decisions made in primary care. Whilst every care has been taken to ensure correct dosage regimes, you are advised to use your professional abilities at all times or refer to a publication such as the BNF, or the manufacturer’s specific details before making any decision based upon these tables. The clinical decision must always outweigh any consideration of the financial impact of a prescribing decision.
This is a ready-reckoner of the NHS Basic Price of most medicines dispensed in primary care and does not reflect the full list of drugs listed by the Prescription Services division of the NHSBSA which can be found on their website www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/
This is intended to give you a rough idea of the market price [purchase price] of most generic medicines and compare it to the actual Drug Tariff [reimbursement] price of a generic. Market prices may go down as well as up and change daily and it is recommended that you contact your generic supplier to check actual purchase prices.
